Advanced and AusAgritech Are Taking R&D Capital to Regional Australia

As covered by Startup Daily, 26 March 2026

Advanced is the company featured in this coverage. This article summarises and contextualises the original Startup Daily reporting.

Before the AusAgritech partnership was announced, Advanced had already put more than $10 million into regional and rural businesses in a single year. Agriculture, manufacturing, technology, life sciences, companies doing genuine R&D outside the capital cities, largely without the access to specialist capital that their metro counterparts take for granted.

The partnership with AusAgritech, covered by Startup Daily in March 2026, formalises a commitment that was already showing up in the numbers.

What the partnership does

Advanced has partnered with AusAgritech, the Australian Agritech Association, to give their community a direct pathway into R&D financing. The R&D Tax Incentive is a federal program that lets eligible businesses claim back a significant portion of qualifying R&D expenditure. For many agritech founders, the entitlement is real. The problem is knowing what qualifies, how to structure the claim, and how to get capital against it before the government refund lands nine months after the money was spent.

Advanced helps with all three. Decisions happen in 24 to 48 hours.

Alex Knight, Advanced's founder and CEO, told Startup Daily:

"Regional businesses are doing genuinely world-class R&D. The gap isn't in the quality of the work or innovation, it's in the awareness of what's available to fund it and the availability of capital."

AusAgritech executive officer Meg Lovegrove described it plainly:

Australian agritech founders are solving real agricultural problems with globally relevant technology, but many still run into barriers that have nothing to do with the quality of their R&D.

Jo Palmer, cofounder of Invest Rural, which brought Advanced into its November 2025 summit, said the scale of capital flowing into regional businesses signals that both the appetite and the infrastructure to support it are catching up.

Why this partnership matters

Advanced has facilitated tens of millions in R&D funding to hundreds of Australian businesses since founding in 2024. The raise that made this possible was covered separately by Startup Daily and Business News Australia in May 2025.

The AusAgritech partnership extends that reach. Regional founders building things that matter in agriculture, manufacturing and deep tech now have a named pathway into the same capital mechanisms that metro-based companies have been using for years.
